SHOULD I GET A KX MODEL?

KX MODELS

KX models are our high-performance competition models. The KX brand is the winningest brand with more victories than any other manufacturer in AMA Motocross and Supercross series.

The KX XC range for 2021 model year introduces 2 new models to the KX lineup. These models are heavily based on the motocross bikes and have undergone numerous changes to make them suited to cross-country racing. These changes include an 18″ rear wheel, side stand, revised engine mapping, revised suspension settings, wiring loom, cross-country tyres, skid plate and revised gearing.

…OR A KLX MODEL?

KLX MODELS

KLX models are our trail-orientated funbike models. These modern 4-stroke bikes are built strong for hours of riding and trail bashing fun.

The KLX models are lower-powered, quieter and require less maintenance than the high-performance competition KX range. For example, the KLX110R (112cc 4-stroke) is lower powered and easier to ride than the KX65 (64cc 2-stroke) motocross model.

All KLX models are equipped with electric start and side stands with some models that are able to be lowered to suit growing kids or to help with confidence when starting out.

KLX110R RANGE

The KLX110R Auto and KLX110R Manual are the perfect learner bikes for the 7-12 year range or even older! Low maintenance, great resale value and built strong, the KLX110R range is the obvious choice to start out on 2 wheels.

KLX110R L Manual pictured

Lower seat height, adjustable throttle (limits speed while learning) and an auto clutch make the KLX110R the perfect bike for learning without adding a manual clutch to confuse the process. Although more engine capacity than the 2-stroke KX65 of a similar seat height, the KLX110R with 4-stroke engine is a much less powerful and predictable bike to learn on.

$3,995

Taller seat height, adjustable throttle (limits speed while learning) and a manual clutch make the KLX110R L the next step up for the confident young rider ready to handle a manual clutch. More travel in the suspension allow more difficult terrain to be tackled.

KLX140R RANGE

The KLX140R comes in 3 sizes and even has a lowering link available that makes it as low as the next lowest model in the KLX range. Fitting the lowering link takes 20 minutes and is reversible. For example, the KLX140R (Small Wheel) can be lowered to the same seat height as the KLX110R L!

Not only that but the KLX140R models feature electric start with a solid long-lasting battery, MX styled disc brakes front and rear, class-leading suspension (adjustable shock on the KLX140R L and F models) and other class-leading componentry all-round!

KLX140R Small Wheel pictured

14″ rear and 17″ front wheel make the KLX140R the smallest in the KLX140R lineup and it packs all the features of the bigger KLX140R models (excluding adjustable rear shock). The class-leading perimeter frames increases its stability and provides a very predictable and smooth ride. Aimed at riders 9-14 years old.

$5,795

The 16″ rear and 19″ front wheel make the KLX140R L the middle option in the 140 range. Upgraded adjustable rear suspension add to the premium trail-orientated ride. Aimed at riders 11-16 years old

$5,945

The KLX140R F is the full-size option featuring 18″ rear and 21″ wheels usually found on full-size trail and enduro models. Other full-size trail bikes usually feature bigger engines and are much heavier as a result.

The KLX140R L is popular among learner adult riders looking for a lightweight motorcycle with low maintenance and is manageable on the trails yet capable of tackling ruts and obstacle. Longer swingarm and adjustable rear shock make the full-size version even more stable. Aimed for riders 14 years and older.

KLX300R

The new KLX300R is the king of the trails. The ultimate all-rounder trail bike features a fuel injected DOHC water-cooled engine with 6-speed gearbox and adjustable suspension front and rear including modern upside-down (USD) forks.
The KLX300R was all-new for 2020 and offers features normally found on motorcycles much more expensive. It’s watercooled DOHC, 4-valve engine uses fuel injection and a 6-speed gearbox to provide useable torque that makes the KLX300R a joy to ride all-day long and deceptively fast with its quieter exhaust note.

270mm front brake and 240mm rear brake (the same size as flagship KX450 model) to stop with predictable power. 3-way adjustable USD forks and adjustable shock round out the package. A large 7.9L fuel tank paired with its frugal fuel injection system make stopping for fuel is much less frequent.

The KX design philosophy – to put mid-level to expert riders on the top step of the podium – has not changed since the brand was launched over 40 years ago. Designed to continue its history of winning – in the extremely competitive 4-stroke 250cc class Kawasaki race machines have the most AMA Supercross  and Motocross titles – the 2021 model KX250 builds on the engine changes from the previous year to deliver even greater power and an even higher rev limit, plus electric start and a hydraulic clutch. A new frame based on that of the KX450 contributes to improved handling that enables even quicker lap times, making the KX250 even more potent on the track.
